T-Mobile Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Android Security Patch Update (UVS3APD8)

T-Mobile is pushing out the security update for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge line up. It rather be just a minor update and it has just started rolling out via over-the-air OTA. It is part of the monthly security patch update but it isn't the May's bug fixes as it was already came earlier  in the month. So definitely, this is a different fixes or whatsoever for the device.

This is the fourth Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the said carrier's devices, and the 3rd security update so far. You may now check the update via over-the-air or by using the Samsung Smart Switch for PC.  The firmware build version came out as MMB29M.G930TUVS3APD8 for the Galaxy S7 while on the S7 Edge, the build version is G935TUVU3APD8. Both updates for each devices weighs at just around 40 MB in size.

The update is being released in stages and it may take some time to hit on some devices.



How to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge via Over-The-Air:

  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
  4. You’ve successfully updated your software.

How to Update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Thru Smart Switch?


The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Smart Switch for PC. You may head over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download the Smart Switch from there, and install it in your PCs or Mac computer. Once you installed the Smart Switch, all you need is connect your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge into your PC using the USB data cable, then simply run and follow Smart Switch on-screen’s software update instruction.

For those who have a rooted Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, you folks might need to download the stock firmware itself – Galaxy S7 Firmware, and  Galaxy S7edge Firmware, as you may no longer get the Over The air update as long as your device has been rooted or modified .  This process will completely unroot and remove any modification in your Galaxy S7 and S7 edge phone and restores it back to its official or factory default firmware.
