AT&T Updates Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for June Android Security Patch (UCS2APF2)

If you owns the AT&T Galaxy S7 and S7 edge then you might got or going to receive a notification saying that a new update is available for download. The update is the Android Security Patch for June to which is part of the monthly security enhancements for the device that fixes the Android vulnerabilities. It's only a minor update compared to some of the previous updates to which brings nothing more any adverse effect nor noticeable changes to the device. This is the fourth update containing the Android security patch for the latter's Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge lineup alone.

The build version came in dubbed as MMB29M.G930AUCS2APF2 for the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930A), whilst the Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935) will receive the build version MMB29M.G935AUCS2APF2.

The update has started rolling out via Firmware Over-The-Air (OTA) and weighs at 44 MB in size. It is usually released in stages, so it might arrive on some devices much earlier and might also be later.

How to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge via Over-The-Air:

Before you download:
  • Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network first, or make sure it has a strong Wireless network connection.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.
  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
  4. You’ve successfully updated your software.
