Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Wi-Fi Calling and Battery Life Improvements Update (VRU2APE1)

Verizon seems to be pushing out updates in a timely manner as they are sending out the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge update for June security patches. The update is said to improve both device Wi-Fi calling and Battery life performance, and alongside with several bug fixes.  The release is basically a part of monthly security maintenance update to which unexpectedly earlier  than any major carriers in U.S. alone.

The latest update with firmware build number MMB29M.G930VVRU2APE1 will be hitting the Galaxy S7, and MMB29M.G935VVRU2APE1 for the Galaxy S7 edge.

The update is live as we speak but might be released in stages. You can manually check it out via Over-The-Air and or by using the Verizon's software upgrade assistant itself.

How to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge via Over-The-Air:

Before you download:
  • Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network first, or make sure it has a strong Wireless network connection.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
  4. You’ve successfully updated your software.
