Europe's Unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Getting Cloud and SeptemberSecurity Patch Update [U1BPHJ]

Those who owns the unlocked version of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in Europe should start seeing an OTA update this month. This update brings the Samsung Cloud feature and an improvements to bluetooth and NFC (Near Field Communication). This update is still part of the Android security maintenance to which is release once in every month. So this time it's the September Security Patch update to which addresses several Android vulnerabilities.

The September 2016 packages contains around 60+ Google and Samsung patches,  according to Samsung Mobile Security bulletin.

The update is simultaneously released via Over-The-Air OTA and through Samsung Smart Switch for PC. This update file size is just around 263 MB, to which consider far small than a minor OTA update.

How to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge via Over-The-Air:


  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
  4. You’ve successfully updated your software.


How to Update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Thru Smart Switch?

The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Smart Switch for PC. You may head over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download the Smart Switch from there, and install it in your PCs or Mac computer. Once you installed the Smart Switch, all you need is connect your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge into your PC using the USB data cable, then simply run and follow Smart Switch on-screen’s software update instruction.
