Rogers, Telus, Bell and Unlocked Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Receives September Android Security Patch Updates to version G930W8VLU2API1 & G935W8VLU2API1

All of the major Canadian carriers Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has started receiving the September Android Security patch update. This update will bump up the Canada's Galaxy S7 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS to build version G930W8VLU2API1. Whilst the Galaxy S7 edge will also move up to build version G935W8VLU2API1.

The update is recently hitting through Rogers, Telus, Bell, Koodo, Fido, Wind, and the unlocked Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. But all of Canada's  major carrier, including its sub-carriers might as well follow very soon.

In addition, the September Android Security Patch package address 66 Google patches along with 9 Samsung vulnerabilities and exposures. These patches were classified into its severity, some is referred to as critical issues, while the rest are at high and medium security vulnerabilities. The said security vulnerabilities can be executed by means of remote code access such as email, web browsing, and processing multi-media files. However, there are no any incident of exploitation being reported from active customers to the said Android security vulnerabilities, according to Android security bulletin.

How to update the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge via Over-The-Air:

  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
