Canada's Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Owners Receiving Android 7.0 Nougat Updates

Canadian owners of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has finally started receiving their Android 7.0 Nougat updates.  The said Nougat updates  is recently hitting Bell customers, while other major Canadian carriers will follow shortly in just a couple of days.  The Galaxy S7 received the firmware version G930W8VLU2BQB6. While the Galaxy S7 edge has also gotten the firmware version G935W8VLU2BQB6.

This update is now available for Bell, Eastlink, Free Mobile, Sasktel, and Virgin Mobile. Rogers, Telus, and Fido hasn't showed up yet, but might be delayed for a while for some reasons.

Update: 3-20-2017 - Rogers, Telus and the rest of all Canadian carriers including the factory unlocked version of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge also receiving the said Android 7.0 Nougat updates. Awesome!

To ensure that you'll get the update, just hit your device software update settings. From Home screen> Apps > Settings > About device > Check for software updates.

How to Update  a Galaxy S7 or a Galaxy S7 edge via Over-The-Air

  • Make your phone’s battery is fully recharged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.

  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.

  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.

  4. You’ve successfully updated your Galaxy S7 Android OS.
