2018 February Security Updates Landed on Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Yet the monthly Android security updates has once again making it rounds on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices. This time the updates around here are the following updates the bumps-up the Android security patch level to February 1, 2018.

However, Samsung  hasn't fully rolled out the said updates for this month in the United States. While there are several specific carriers and countries has gotten the monthly security update treatment, but some devices hasn't received it yet.

Again, not all devices received the February 2018 security updates, particularly in United States for some reasons.

If your device is on the list but hasn’t received the update yet, you may check it manually by simply hitting your onto your device Settings > About device > Check for an updates.

How to Update a Galaxy S7 and S7 edge plus via Firmware Over-The-Air (OTA)

  • Make sure your device is fully charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
  • Make a backup copy of important data store in your phone.
  • From the device home screen, swipe down from the Notification bar and tap the Settings icon.
  • Scroll to and tab About deviceTap Software update > Check for updates.


After doing an update it’s highly recommended to do a Wipe cache partition. Just make sure that already have made a backup copy of all your important data such as photos, videos, messages, contacts, and etc.

Follow the steps below:
  1. With the device powered off, press and hold the Volume Down key.
  2. While holding the Volume Down key, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Release both keys when the Recovery mode screen appears. On the Android system recovery screen, press the Volume Down key to scroll to and highlight wipe cache partition.
  4. Press the Power key. Press the Volume Down key to scroll to Yes, and then press the Power key.
  5. Press the Power key to select reboot system now.
    The device will restart.

Performing Wipe cache partition process once the device receives a new software update will gets rid of some unwanted issues.
