April 2018 Android Security Updates for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Here comes April 2018 Android Security Updates for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices across the world. These updates are all still based in Android 7.0 Nougat as the Android Oreo updates are nearly approaching this coming June.

Again, these updates will only add-up the April 2018 Android Security Paches and there is nothing more to expect for but might also includes various bug fixes.

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Meltdown and Spectre Migration Patches with March 2018 Android Security Updates


Here comes another round of updates for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge within this month of March 2018. Unlike any previous released, these updates deals the Meltdown Spectre and Migration Patches, while also bumping up the devices Android Security Patch level to March 1, 2018. In short, these updates brings fixes for Android OS vulnerabilities, and it does not bring any further changes to its features and other application.

For AT&T Galaxy S7 and S7 edge updates were not soly brings the June 2017 Security enhancements but rather also includes additional fixes and several improvements. While the rest such as stability improvements, and the Video calling improvements were also addressed. The rolling out were scheduled to start on July 6, 2017.

AT&T is sending an update on Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G90A) and Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935A) that brings the April 1, 2017 Android security patch level. The update also includes several fixes, such as Advanced Messaging, AT&T Messages Backup & Sync, Wi-Fi calling. While it also serve an additional improvements to Video Calling  and other various fixes and improvements to system related stuff.

The AT&T Galaxy S7  has bumped-up its current Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version G930AUCU4BQD4 from previous version G930AUCS4BQC2. While the Galaxy S7 edge also moved to version G935AUCU4BQD4 from G930AUCS4BQC2.

O2 Galaxy S7 and S7 edge April 2017 Security Patch Updates Hitting in UK

If it happens that your in UK and you owned the O2 Galaxy S7 and or a Galaxy S7 edge, then you must be seeing an update on your smartphone.  The update will eventually brings the April 1, 2017 security patch level.  And your devices are the first ones who got this update anywhere in the world.

The update bumped up the O2 Galaxy S7 current Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version G930FXXU1DQD1. While the O2 Galaxy S7 edge on the other hand, moved to version G935FXXU1DQD1.

March 2017 Android Security Updates Hitting in Australia's Galaxy S7and S7 edge

The March 2017 Android security maintenance has just recently released on the unlocked version of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in Australia.  Both device has bumped up its Android security patch level to March 1, 2017.

Along with the latest security patches it also includes other global bug fixes, stability and performance improvements.

The Galaxy S7 received an update to version G930FXXS1DQCE. While the Galaxy S7 edge also moved to version G935FXXS1DQCE. These updates are now the 3rd Android 7.0 Nougat released for the two phones.

There is an update recently hitting the factory unlocked variant of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the United States. Unfortunately, these updates aren't that much awaited Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade yet, but still in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow base. It only brings the March 1, 2017 Android security patches, some bug-fixes and further improvements to the device performance.

The Galaxy S7 (SM-G930U) receives an update to build version G930UUES4AQC1 from previous released version G930UUEU4APL2. While the Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935U) on the other hand, bumped-up to build version G935UUES4AQC1 from G935UUEU4APL4.

Sprint Galaxy S7 is getting an OTA update dubbed as build version G930PVPU4APL6. The update is still in Android Marshmallow based and not the final Nougat update yet. The said update includes several stability improvements such as  LTE, WiFi and Hotspot. The battery life performance is also significantly improved. And like the previous rleased the update also contains the new Android security patches for the month of December 2016

How to Update Galaxy S7 via Over-The-Air:


  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
  4. You’ve successfully updated your software.

A new update dubbed as build version G930UUEU4APL2 is heading it way to the unlocked Galaxy S7 SM-G930U in the United States.
The update includes the new Android security patches that covers the month of December 2016. The update also contains several bug-fixes for the device stability, along with general system enhancements and further improvements to performance. The update will be hitting all unlocked Galaxy S7 in the entire United States this week but the roll out will run for a couple of weeks.

Noting that this particular Galaxy S7 variant hasn't been receiving new updates for the past couple of months. It has been almost around three months long since this device receive the Android security updates. It all seems that this device will only get a quarterly security updates instead of the usual monthly basis.
