2018 February Security Updates Landed on Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Yet the monthly Android security updates has once again making it rounds on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices. This time the updates around here are the following updates the bumps-up the Android security patch level to February 1, 2018.

However, Samsung  hasn't fully rolled out the said updates for this month in the United States. While there are several specific carriers and countries has gotten the monthly security update treatment, but some devices hasn't received it yet.


O2 Galaxy S7 and S7 edge April 2017 Security Patch Updates Hitting in UK

If it happens that your in UK and you owned the O2 Galaxy S7 and or a Galaxy S7 edge, then you must be seeing an update on your smartphone.  The update will eventually brings the April 1, 2017 security patch level.  And your devices are the first ones who got this update anywhere in the world.

The update bumped up the O2 Galaxy S7 current Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version G930FXXU1DQD1. While the O2 Galaxy S7 edge on the other hand, moved to version G935FXXU1DQD1.

England's Galaxy S7 SM-G930F and the Galaxy S7 edge SM-G935F receives  an updates to the Android 7.0 Nougat. For some reasons, these updates have been already seen rolled out to select European countries a week earlier.  These updates brings the 1 February 2017 Android security patch level, so the released is quite a bit delayed since it's already April and we are now expecting the March 2017 security updates.

The Galaxy S7 has moved its current Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version G930FXXU1DQC4. Whilst, the Galaxy S7 edge also bumped to version G935FXXU1DQC4.

March 2017 Android Security Updates Hitting in Australia's Galaxy S7and S7 edge

The March 2017 Android security maintenance has just recently released on the unlocked version of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in Australia.  Both device has bumped up its Android security patch level to March 1, 2017.

Along with the latest security patches it also includes other global bug fixes, stability and performance improvements.

The Galaxy S7 received an update to version G930FXXS1DQCE. While the Galaxy S7 edge also moved to version G935FXXS1DQCE. These updates are now the 3rd Android 7.0 Nougat released for the two phones.

First it was rolled out in UK alone, then followed within the rest of the European countries. Last few days ago US carrier such as T-Mobile and AT&T has responded the call, this time around it's for all Australian Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners turn to receive the same Android Nougat treatment.

Yes, the Nougat update will also start hitting the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in Australia this time around. These updates will  hit at the same time for the factory unlocked version, and the carrier devices such as Optus, Telstra and Vodafone.  Thought the original release schedule is February 21st , but something causes some delays but an official announcement from Samsung addresses that it could start on February 24, 2017.

Telstra Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Android Nougat Updates


However, for Telstra's Galaxy S7 and S7 edge build version has not revealed yet. But it will be available on or before the 24th of February.

How to Update a Galaxy S7 or a Galaxy S7 edge via Over-The-Air (OTA)


  • Ensure your battery is fully charged before starting the software update. This is a must and very important part to get rid of some issues if ever the software update being interrupted due to a power failure.

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  2. If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now. When complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  3. The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.

How to Update Galaxy S7  and S7 edge Using Smart Switch for PC


The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Smart Switch for PC. You may head over to Samsung support page so you can download the Smart Switch, and then install it in your PC or Mac computer. Once you installed the Smart Switch, all you need is connect your Galaxy S7  into your PC using the USB data cable, then simply run and follow Smart Switch on-screen’s software update instruction.
  1. Connect the cable to a compatible USB port on your computer.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.

United Kingdom owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935F) has started receiving another round of Android Nougat updates. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are now getting the official Android Nougat updates in United Kingdom. Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge July Security Patch Update (G930F/G935F S1APG3)

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge international variant is getting another Android security patch update. This over-the-air OTA update will improved the device security and covers for the month of June.  Along with it is several bug fixes and system enhancements.

It is said to resolve occasional issues like the recorded video flickering problem during playback, unable to save files to the SD card, and the Power saving mode issue while using Google Now.  A small revamp to the icon location cycle while using Always On Display also receives some tweaks to improved screen clarity, according to the released notes.
