October 2017 Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Updates aka The Blueborne Fix

Since we haven't seen massive updates on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge last month. It was supposed to be the released of the September 2017 security updates, but for unknown reasons there was only few devices receives the said monthly security patches.  But here goes the end of October, and hopefully we have seen that each devices got an update treatments.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge October security updates hasn't came alone. The update is also accompanied with Bluetooth vulnerability security patches dubbed as the "BlueBorne" fix.

The Blueborne were recently published by Armis Labs. and it defines how vulnerable and allows attackers to take control of devices via Bluetooth connection.
BlueBorne is an attack vector by which hackers can leverage Bluetooth connections to penetrate and take complete control over targeted devices. BlueBorne affects ordinary computers, mobile phones, and the expanding realm of IoT devices.

Here comes the updates of each devices, just make sure you may have one of these updates to ensure that your precious data stored in your device would not  get compromise by attackers. However, if you won't take the update, then you may not use the Bluetooth at all.  But, if you are an avid user of that Bluetooth feature in your devices, then you should considerably update it right now.


Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge Receives May 2017 Android Security Updates

Verizon has pushed an OTA update for the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V)  and Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935V) that includes the May 1, 2017 Android Security Updates. The update has bumped up the Galaxy S7 recent Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version  NRD90M.G930VVRS4BQC9 from an earlier version NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQC5. While the Galaxy S7 edge also moved to  NRD90M.G935VVRS4BQC9 from NRD90M.G935VVRU4BQC5.

Along with the latest Android security patches, the update also includes some improvements to optimize the device performance, resolve known issues. Noting that the previous update Verizon has provided the latest enhancements for Enterprise customers,  of which has brings the One Talk support that allows users to connect their office and mobile devices using a single number.

Verizon Pushed One Talk Support and April 2017 Security Updates on Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Verizon Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge are now getting an update that apparently brings Verizon One Talk support features and applies the April  1, 2017 Android security patch level.  It also includes an update for the Amazon app that has bumped the version to (v 8.1.1).

The update came out as version NRD90M. G930VVRU4BQC5 for Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V) and NRD90M. G935VVRU4BQC5 for Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935V). For the record, this released are now the 3rd Android 7.0 Nougat updates landed on both devices.

Verizon Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Receives Wi-Fi Connectivity Fixes on Android 7.0 Nougat Updates

Verizon Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge recently received its Android 7.0 Nougat updates. But for some reasons the Nougat updates have been found some minor glitches, and this is all about the Wi-Fi connection issues.  So earlier today, Verizon has just pushed another round of Android Nougat updates that primarily boost both devices Wi-Fi connectivity.

This software update improves Wi-Fi connectivity on Android 7.0 Nougat OS, and other improvements including:

It's about time for Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners to get a doze of Android 7.0 Nougat treatment.  Few weeks earlier we've seen  AT&T,  T-Mobile, and Sprint pushing the official the Android  7.0 Nougat updates on their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.  Though we've though Verizon variants  might take some further delays since they've dropped its participation in the Android Galaxy beta program way back in December. But now, big red is also started rolling out the official Android 7.0 Nougat updates on their own Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V) and Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935V)

Here goes the details for the Verizon Galaxy S7 edge Android 7.0 Nougat update, which is dubbed as build version G935VVZW4BQA2.  While for the flat Verizon Galaxy S7 Nougat update also got the build version G930VVRU4BQA2.

Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users who have participated Galaxy beta program has started to get the Android Nougat beta update last week. But for those who hasn't been able to register the Nougat beta testing event has yet received another dose of Android Marshmallow update today. The update is said to removed Samsung Milk Music as well as bumping up the Android Security Patch level to October 1, 2016.

In addition, the update might also include some bug fixes and other system enhancements. It may include the fix to the WiFi issues that has been reported by affected Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users. It turns out that the previous update has causes WiFi issues, the WiFi application rather turn itself on and off every few minutes. So better check the update your device has also affected such problem.

Verizon Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Updates version G930VVRS4APH1 & G935VVRS4APH1

Another OTA update for Verizon Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V) & Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935V) has started to roll out. The said update brings an optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches, according to Verizon. It came out as build version G930VVRS4APH1 for the Galaxy S7 and G935VVRS4APH1 for the Galaxy S7 edge.

It basically only brings the September Security Patches and there is nothing more any features unlike the previous release build VRU2APG5 that added up the FM Radio and the standalone Barcode scanner.

Verizon Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge FM Radio Updates version G930VVRU2APG5 & G935VVRU2APG5

Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has gotten an OTA update that brings FM Radio. There are also several improvements added like the reduction of HD Voice call drops, and addresses issues to the unintentional random reboots.  The update will now also allows the Samsung Pay to be able to scan a barcode without the need of any separate barcode scanner app.

Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge July Security Patch Update (VRS2APF2)

Verizon Galaxy S7 and S7 edge yet received another OTA update earlier today. According to the big red's released notes, the update will bring the new Android security patches that covers its fixes for the month of July. This release is part of the monthly Security Maintenance Release (SMR) process. The patch will address more than 40 security vulnerabilities, including the vulnerability in audio service, a remote code execution that could affect device through multiple methods such as email, web browsing, and MMS when processing media files. But yet there are no exploitation of the said vulnerabilities has yet been reported, according to an Android security bulletin.

The update came out as build version MMB29M.G930VVRS2APF2 on Verizon Galaxy S7 (SM-G930V), while the Verizon Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935V) got the build version MMB29M.G935VVRS2APF2.

Verizon has released the May's security patch update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners.  According to the big red, the update will not just apply the latest security patches to the device but apparently, it will also optimizes the device performance, and resolve known issues. The update is said to bring the new Application Manager that allows users to easily“check individual app performance and memory usage. While the rest are some other features and system enhancements, according to the official changelog.

The new update comes with software version MMB29M.G930VVRU2APD2 (for Galaxy S7) and MMB29M.G935VVRU2APD2 (for Galaxy S7 edge).
